Surgical Services Effectiveness
New, systemwide Case Priority Levels have been established to standardize the way in which surgical cases are categorized. The goal of this education is to inform clinicians in the surgical services space of the system standard UPMC Case Priority levels within Epic and SurgiNet.
Knowing a patient’s Perioperative Risk Score for 30 Day Mortality and Major Adverse Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Events (MACCE) is better for the patient and the surgeon. Awareness of the patient’s mortality and MACCE risk allows for shared decision making between the patient and the surgeon and additional time to mitigate risk.
